October 27 - The Class 4 Sectional 4 meet was held at the Wildflower Cross Country Course in Liberty where the Tim Nixon Invitational was held. Once again, the weather was perfect. Top 30 individuals and top 4 teams qualify for the state meet next week. Lily placed 44th and Brenna was 62nd. Congratulations to both on a great year.

 

Octorber 20 - The Class 4 District 7 meet was at Lake Jacomo. Due to the recent rain, we did not go into the woods. The course was basically three laps. We placed 6th as a team, but did have two individual qualifiers to the sectional meet next week. Lily placed 10th and Brenna placed 30th. Rose was 34th, Nina 35th, Gretta 37th, Dillan 42nd and Kelsey 45th. For those that didn't qualify, congratulations on a good season. Good luck to Lily and Brenna as they head to the Wildflower course for the sectional meet.

 

October 17 - We ended the regular season at the Richmond Invitational where we recognized our seniors; Gretta Allen, Molly Conway, Victoria Farrington, Brenna Richard and Kelsey Wilcoxson. With the district meet just days away, the non-senior varsity runners were just spectators and everyone else ran in the jv race. Bridget led the team with a 2nd place finish. Emily was 3rd, followed closely by Ella in 4th. Anna F. took 8th, Liv was 10th and Anna B. was 25th. Congratulations to all on a good season. The varsity will be competing in their district meet on Saturday at Lake Jacomo.

 

October 11 - We had great weather again, low 50s, which brought more season bests. This time we had six girls run their best times of the the season; Gretta, Lily, Ella, Bridget, Emily and Kelsey. The jv was led by Emily's 15th place finish. Ella was right behind her in 16th, Molly was 26th, Anna F. was 27th and Anna B. was 30th. The varsity was led by Lily's 8th place finish, followed by Rose in 21st, Gretta in 24th, Brenna in 27th, Kelsey in 44th, Bridget in 46th and Dillan in 48th. Special congrats to Bridget on her varsity debut. Next week we will head to Richmond for the last regular season meet of the year.

 

October 6 - The Kearney Invitational was postponed due to inclement weather and re-scheduled for Monday, October 8. We decided not to attend.

 

October 2 - The weather was very warm and the course was tough, so no season bests. However, that doesn't mean we didn't do well. The varsity placed 4 in the top 10 and all 6 were in the top 17; Lily (3rd), Nina (7th), Brenna (8th), Gretta (10th), Rose (12th) and Dillan (17). The successfully defended their team title. The jv team not only won the team title, they also had the individual champion. Bridget Schumm, in only her 5th race, was able to win the jv race. The jv place all 7 in the top 21; Molly (2nd), Emily (4th), Ella (5th), Anna F. (9th), Liv (10th), Anna (21st). Special congrats to Bridget and Molly, who pushed her the whole race. Next we head up to Kearney.

 

September 29 - Once again we had great weather and it showed in the performances, 9 of the 13 runners ran season bests. In the first race of the day, the C race, we saw a break-out race for the freshmen. Anna improved her season best by just over 3 minutes, Ella and Liv each took about 2:20 off their previous best times of the season. The C team was led by Bridget with a 24th place finish with a time of 23:47 (25 seconds faster than her previous best set last week). Emily was our second finisher in the C race with a season best of 26:05, followed by Anna with her second best time ever, 26:28. The varsity team was led once again by Lily placing 59th with a season best of 20:36. Rose was next with a season best of 21:24 followed by Brenna in 21:57. Nina and Gretta came in together with times of 22:21 and 22:22, respectively. Dillan was our sixth finisher in a season best of 23L10 followed by Kelsey in 25:01. Special congrats to the freshmen for a great performance. We'll be headed to Excelsior Springs on Tuesday.

 

September 22 - The team traveled to Rim Rock Farm, had beautiful weather and had our best performance of the season. Every girl that ran this weekend ran a season best! The jv ran first with the minimum of 5 to score as a team. They placed 15th out of 24 full teams with over 200 runners finishing. Kelsey led with with a 67th place finish, Molly was 91st, Bridget 92nd, Abby 104th and Anna F. was 104. The varsity race featured runners from 49 teams, 39 complete teams and a total of 300 finishers. They placed 4th out of the 39 full teams. They were led again by medalist Lily (14th), Brenna (41st), Rose (51st), Gretta (76th), Nina (86th) and Dillan (140th). Great showing by all. Next week back to Ray-Pec HS for the KC Metro meet.

 

September 20 - The freshmen ran in the Grandview Invitational. It was really, really hot. Ella was the first to finish in 27th, Liz was right behind her in 28th and Anna was 54th. Did I mention it was really hot? They will be running at the KC Metro meet next.

 

Septmember 15 - The warm and humid air returned for the Blue Springs Invitational. However, the Storm Harriers were up to the challenge. There was only one race for the girls. Lily led the team to a second place finishwith a second place individual finish. Other scorers; Rose (6th), Brenna (9th), Gretta (11th), and Dillan (17th). Overall, this was our best showing of the season. Congratulations to Elle Rogge on competing in her first high school cross country race. We're off to Rim Rock Farm next week.

 

Septmeber 8 - We had fantastic weather for the runners, it was cool (low 60s). Unfortunately, the course wasn't in great shape due to the recent rain. We were a little short-handed as we had 3 girls taking the ACT. Lily led the varsity with a season best of 21:36 which was good enough for 30th place. Lily was followed by Brenna (70th), Nina (79), Dillan (80th), Abby (93rd) and Kelsey (96th). Brenna, Dillan, Abby and Kelsey all ran season bests. The C team was led by Emily. Emily placed 23rd with a season best of 26:16. Anna F. placed 34 with a time of 27:22. Special congrats to our freshmen, Anna Baklanov and Liv Zender, on competing in their first high school 5k.

 

September 1 - We opened the season at the Tim NIxon Invitational. Tim was the Liberty cross country coach from the 1979 season through last November, when he passed away. The varsity ran first (after an hour delay due to weather). They were led by junior Lily Henkle with an 11th place finish in the Silver Division. She was followed by junior Rose Orrick (27th), seniors Brenna Richart (30th) and Gretta Allen (31st), junior Nina Trouve (32nd), sophomore Dillan Elmquist (48th) and senior Kelsey Wilcoxson (53). The jv Harriers were led by senior Molly Conway in 55th place. She was followed by sophomore Abby DeLong (88th), Bridget Schumm (93rd), junior Anna Frerker (135th) and sophomore Emily Weians (151st). Congratulations to Bridget on completing her first high school cross country race. Next week we're off to Ray-Pec.
