District 7 Champions

Storm XC earned 2nd Place in Class 3 Girls State Cross Country, finishing as runners-up to the West Plains Zizzers, ranked #2 in the country. Congratulations to Anna Florzak (6th place), Elise O'Connor (17th place) and Jackie Williams (18th place) on earning All-State honors. Anna, Elise, Jackie, and Tori Mirfasihi were also recognized by the KC Cross Country Coaches Assoc. as All-Metro 1st Team for Missouri small-class girls. Anna was also selected to the KC Star's All-Metro 1st team.

The Cross Country season is off to a great start this season, with over 30 committed girls putting in lots of hard work and logging many miles at each and every practice.

The team has had strong finishes in their first meets. At the Olathe North meet on 9/8, junior Anna Florzak and freshman Jackie Williams both finished 1st in the varsity and jv races! Varsity medalists included sophomores Tori Mirfasihi and Elise O'Connor and senior Keara Sherman. Another JV medalists was freshman Maria Caruso, placing third in her first race. Both teams placed second overall at the meet.

Storm runners took first place at the Blue Springs Invitational meet on 9/11, beating out local powerhouse schools like Blue Springs and Lee's Summit. All varsity scorers finished in the medals, with Jackie and Maria again medaling in the JV race.

At the Southern Stampede in Joplin on 9/18, Sion took second overall in a meet with 32 strong teams representing 4 states. Congratulations to Joplin runners Anna Florzak, Tori Mirfasihi, Elise O'Connor, Keara Sherman, Jackie Williams, Julie Crowe, Emily Aisenbrey, Kristen Schropp and Maria Caruso.

Please plan on joining us at the big KC Metro meet at Ray Pec high school on Saturday, September 25. The meet begins with the freshmen girls running at 9:00. Varsity and JV will follow. Everyone is invited to be Booster Club guests at a tailgate immediately after the meet. Bring a friend and support our great teams! Hotdogs and hamburgers will be served at noon.
