9/17/11 We finally got a look at what the Sion cross country team looks like at full strength. The varsity, led my Mary Frances, ran an impressive race placing 2nd behind host Blue Springs. Mary Frances placed 2nd running her first 5k of the season in a great time of 20:29. Meghan sustained an ankle injury with about 800 meters left in the race, she still finished strong just a few seconds off her season best. All other varstiy runners ran season bests: Laure 21:47, Allie 22:28, Natalie 22:40, Mackenzie 22:51 and Daisy 23:21. Allie's time was her all time best. The jv easily won again, led by freshmen Julie Steilen and Molly McCarthy, beating second place Blue Valley by 44 points. As they were approching the finish line, Julie and Molly were running side by side all alone. Julie ended up crossing the finish line first, just .15 seconds ahead of Molly, both running a fantastic time of 21:55. The jv squad had a great day with regards to the clock, all running a season best.

The cross country team won the District 7 championship for the 14th time in the last 16 years. The team placed 7th in the MSHSAA Class 3 State Championship.
